Radio Berlin’s Persian-Language Broadcasts during World War II
Abstract
Hamid Shokat examines the role of the Persian-language program of Radio Berlin (Radio Zeesan), which was established in April 1939 and continued operations until May 1945. Established prior to Radio Tehran, which began broadcasting in April 1940, Radio Berlin’s popular broadcasters, Bahram Shahrokh and Davud Munshizadeh (1914-1989), provided their listeners with anti-Allied and pro-German reports and analyses.
